my girl
Today I laid the first 1m wide strip of glass, then peel plyed it, and sanded up the next 2m of btm and topsides, filled all the staple holes and coved the keel section. The fill job I did yesterday on the keel joint was great, the epoxy penetrated right through the seam. Couldn’t ask for more than that. So today I sanded this up and filled the tack holes from the copper sheathing. I also coved around the prop shaft aperture. at some stage soon i’ll fill the shaft tube with epoxy. It goes off too fast in this heat. Tomorrow should be good to do another 2m strip and clean up for some more.
This site is dedicated to the restoration of My Girl, a planing launch built in 1925 by Dick Lang. She is a square bilge vessel based on a design by W.H.Hand. Originally powered by a 6 cylinder 90hp Scripps engine she was capable of over 18 knots.
1m down, 8 to go.
