my girl
Today I started out moving My Girl about a meter to the stb so i had room to start work on the port side. Leaving enough room that i could work my way up the stb side fairing. Then onto long boarding the transom dealing with all yesterdays compound. This took a good few hours, but man that transom is fair and smooth. Once that nightmare job was over, i grabbed the belt sander and started to sand off the port side. i did about a meter and a half before the novelty wore off. Then I restarted stapling the ply strips to the hull. 1m down..... many many to go. I got a txt from Robert to say my steering wheel was ready... it looks excellent! pics below.
This site is dedicated to the restoration of My Girl, a planing launch built in 1925 by Dick Lang. She is a square bilge vessel based on a design by W.H.Hand. Originally powered by a 6 cylinder 90hp Scripps engine she was capable of over 18 knots.
Moving, fairing, more sanding, planking.....
